Almost Thanksgiving!

We are 12 days away from Thanksgiving day. Last year, when I hosted a student from Europe, this was the holiday she was most excited for! She had only seen how Thanksgiving is celebrated on TV and movies. After explaining the story of the Mayflower and the pilgrims to her we went into the food.

Stuffing, turkey, mashed potatoes, ham, cranberry sauce, mac and cheese, green beans, sweet potatoes and 2 pies. We prepared and baked every single item, even though it took us a few days with all the prep.

Of course we ranked the food! The turkey and ham of course topped the list. The bottom was the yams with marshmallows, which I should have known was not going to be a favorite. Does anyone like this?

That was one of the best Thanksgivings ever. As much fun as the preparation was, what made it better was the sharing of our culture. Sharing our history, sharing family memories and seeing the joy in her face when she walked in to the dining room to see the meal set up made it a great day.

And the leftovers...I normally am not a leftover person, but Thanksgiving leftovers are the best. We made stuffing waffles (yes...Pinterest it!) the next day that were so good. Are you ready for Thanksgiving???

What are your favorite Thanksgiving traditions? What about food? What is your absolute favorite Thanksgiving side dish or dessert?
